Chapter 5: Description Reading Response

In chapter five we learned about descriptions in writing. Something that stuck out to me was that we use description in our writing to entertain the reader. Through description we entertain, express feelings, relate experience, inform, and persuade. Description in writing can persuade people into something. This is important because well-written description can move a readers emotions, this way we can convince the reader to think in a particular way. Something new that I learned was that description is an important part of our everyday life, even if we don’t think about it we use it every day, whether it’s at school, work, or with friends. I learned that by using description in my writing I can persuade or convince people about something that I am writing. Something that we would have to know for a test from this chapter would be how to use description in our essays to entertain our reader and to try to convince them.
